USTP, DOST Empower Women in SMES Through Digital Transformation

Cagayan de Oro City, February 5,2024_Gender equality in the entrepreneurial ecosystem has been enhanced through digital transformation.

This enhancement, aimed to support women entrepreneurs, especially those engaged in micro, small, and medium enterprises, will dispose barriers in accessing resources and opportunities for the so-called weaker sex.

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) and the Asian and Pacific Training Center for ICT for Development (APCICT), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology has organised the "Capacity Building Programme on Digital Transformation of Women-owned Enterprises in Southern Philippines" on February 5 to 8 here in Cagayan de Oro City.


The programme will provide women entrepreneurs with a holistic learning journey which will equip them with knowledge and skills needed to embrace digital transformation and succeed in the digital economy.

The four-day training includes a Foundation Course on Women Empowerment, E-Commerce and Digital Marketing, Business Continuity Planning, Trust and Security in using Digital Technology and Data Analytics.

Increased economic resilience and sustainability for women are envisioned by the organisers through the integration of digital tools and platforms in women's business strategies.


Through digitalisation, women entrepreneurs will employ better inventory management, optimize cost and imorove customer engagement.
