Mayor Klarex outlines gains of Uy admin in City Address

Cagayan de Oro City, June 15, 2024_Coinciding with the 126th Charter Day of the city, Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, in his State of the City Address, today outlined the advancements of his second year of local governance.
Mayor Uy proudly noted the economic progress of the city, saying that Cagayan de Oro ranked as the 2nd richest city outside of Metro Manila and the LGU also registered a 9.4% Gross Domestic Product growth rate in 2023. Uy added that CDO remained the biggest GDP contributor to Northern Mindanao with a 28% share.
In local finance, Mayor Uy reported that the city collected P5.6 billion in business taxes in the past year. He also disclosed that P256 M was released to 50 villages under the Barangay Empowerment Program.
Also highlighted during the mayor's report was that more or less 18 thousand persons were served during the People's Day program from July 2023 to April 2024. In the education sector, the local chief executive
said that in 2023, 6 school buildings were constructed with a total of 48 classrooms. 36 more classrooms are to be constructed this school year. Uy also reported that more than 15 thousand scholars availed of university and technical-vocational courses sponsored by the city government while 19 students are studying law and 12 scholars are into medicine.
Health programs and services were also levelled up by the Uy mayorship, particularly the JR Borja General Hospital, which now has a 175-bed capacity, 5 type B ambulances, state of the art and high-end laboratory and research facilities like fully operational Hemodialysis machines, 2D Echo and Mammogram equipment.
Uy also acknowledged the P255 M contribution of the city hospital to the city's coffers. He added that 29 doctors are serving the city's health centers, ably assisted by 53 registered nurses, 104 midwives, 24 sanitary inspectors and 10 nutritionists.
The mayor also showcased the housing and urban development programs of the city, with 969 mid-rise housing units finished in 2024 in Barangay Balubal, ongoing construction of 164 housing units in Barangay San Simon and 43 new housing units in Barangay Pagatpat. Uy also led the groundbreaking of Klarexville 1 and 2 located in Barangays Pagatpat and San Simon, which will benefit 3,200 families. Presently, Uy disclosed that 137 hectares are being developed, dubbed as the New Township Project in Barangay Lumbia.
113 land titles have been distributed by the City Housing and Urban Development Department, an Emancipation Program close to the heart of Mayor Klarex, while 66 more land titles were given to housing beneficiaries of the GK-SMC Village in Barangay Balubal.
In the final minutes of the Mayor's Address, Mayor Klarex Uy reported a 3.5% decrease in 2023-s crime rate with a 85.81 % crime solution efficiency, a feat that the local chief executive attributed to the leadership and teamwork of the Cagayan de City Police Office.
Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy thanked profusely the 20th City Council for its support to the Uy administration and to all Kagay-anons for resiliency and resolve in contributing to the city's success.
