KapKik to Suan: Increase in Carmen Voters Not Anomalous By Mona Lagbas
Cagayan de Oro City_Punong Barangay Joaquin Rainier "Kikang" Uy Monday lamented the alleged complaint of incumbent 1st District Representative Lordan Suan before the DILG that there was fraud and anomalies involved in the reported increase of voters who tranferred to Carmen.
KapKik or Kapitan Kikang, as he is popularly known in this densely populated village, refuted Suan's claims by citing the inevitable influx of residents who are in or have transfered to his barangay saying that this is caused by the unprecedented growth in the city's upton area.
Uy laughed off the alleged insinuation that the voter increase was allegedly orchestrated in anticipation of the midterm elections next year.
"We cannot prevent people who have transfered to orbare renting units in several subdivisions, condominiums and other adjacent areas from registering as voters in Barangay Carmen.
It would be very inconvenient for these residents to have to travel to their original places of residence just to vote considering that most of them work or go to school here, "said KapKik.
Uy further reported that he has appeared before the DILG recently and lengthily refuted the alleged fraudulent and or Anomalous increase of voters in Barangay Carmen.
KapKik Uy and Representative Lordan Suan are both running for congressman in the city's 1st District and this is their second encounter.
