Mayor Uy officiates mass wedding of PDLs

Cagayan de Oro City, February 19,2024_Twenty-six couples detained at the Cagayan be Oro City Jail availed of a mass wedding today with no less than Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy as the solemnizing officer.

In simple but emotional rites inside the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility this afternoon, Mayor Uy also gave each couple one lechon baboy and a wedding cake.

Uy said that even as these couples are persons deprived of liberty, they also have the right to be wed as ordinary citizens, although in a limited capacity.

The mayor added that in matrimony, these couples also aspire to have families of their own and be productive and responsible citizens once they are released from detention.

Mayor Klarex encouraged the newlyweds not to lose hope and pray harder.
