KapKik: Carmen Is Almost Drug-Cleared

By Rene Malferrari

Cagayan de Oro City, September 23, 2014_”From more than 900 drug personalities, we have reduced their number to less than 40 remnants,” thus declared Punong Barangay Rainier Joaquin “Kikang” Uy Monday.

“Our efforts have not been in vain, in fact since we have upgraded our community-based rehabilitation

facilities, former drug dependents are now into sports,” added KapKik, as Uy is fondly known by his constituents.

Uy was referring to the members of the Barangay  Carmen dragon boat team which has been consistently winning tournaments locally and regionally.

He added that this is the result of concerted efforts and dedication of the barangay anti-drug abuse council, the PNP, the PDEA, the DILG and the DOH.

KapKik also lauded the barangay police or tanods and barangay officials who tirelessly work 24/7 to help eradicate the drug problem in Barangay Carmen.

“I will work for the empowerment of the barangays if given the chance to represent the city’s 1st District and give them more support logistically and in law,” said Punong Barangay Kikang “KapKik” Uy.
