Camiguin LGUs, SSS ink pact to establish e-centers, implement KaSSSanga

CAMIGUIN (PIA)--Providing Camiguingnons with access to comprehensive social security coverage and efficient services, representatives of the Social Security System and the local government units of the province signed the memorandum of agreement for the implementation of the KaSSSanga Program and the establishment of SSS e-Centers, June 8, at the New Capitol Building, here.

"There are around 600 job order workers in the Capitol, and all of them will be covered under our SSS KaSSSanga program for the coverage as SSS members. As workers, they need social security protection, kinahanglan sila naa’y proteksyon sa ilang trabaho (they must have protection in their work)," said SSS Cagayan de Oro Branch Head Antonio Fabia.

He added that SSS offers some benefits designed for private sector workers and also for workers such as job order workers, so they can avail of the various benefits of the agency.

After this, SSS will set up their e-centers, where members can enroll or become members of the SSS through online facilities. "So they can approach or go to our e-centers all over the municipalities, including here in the provincial capitol, and be enrolled and become a member of the SSS," Fabia said.

Extending his support to the programs of SSS, Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo urged the employees of the provincial government to enroll in the said program, especially now that the local government unit is also trying its best to increase the salaries of the job order workers by 2024 through increasing local sources and revenues.

"For the years of service nga inyong gihatag and at the same time ang inyong contributions, dili man gyud madeny ang inyong contributions. So it’s fitting pud na pag mahuman mo og trabaho, dapat naa pu’y something na malook forward to ug protection para sa mga JOs," Romualdo said.

(For the years of service you have given and, at the same time, your contributions, your contributions will never be denied. So it's fitting that when you finish work, there should be something to look forward to and protection for JOs)

He clarified, though, that the MOA signing does not mean that the job order workers are required to enroll in the KaSSSanga Program. It will still be optional for them.

The SSS KaSSSanga Program covers regular employees as well as contract service employees and job order workers that are considered self-employed and don't have an employer-employee relationship.

Meanwhile, the SSS e-center initiative is aimed at bringing the benefits and services of the Social Security System closer to Camiguingnons. This would address the challenges brought about by the lack of means and access to digital facilities by LGU consumer members, said Arnold Ferdinand Velasco of SSS Cagayan de Oro.
