Councilor Datu Roberto Cabaring, chair of the cultural communities committee, has initiated an education and information campaign for Indigenous People (IP) in the city. The campaign will cover 17 barangays with IP communities and is one of the plans and programs proposed by Cabaring for the IP sector, as he reported during the council session chaired by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez.

According to Cabaring, the education campaign will include visits to each IP barangay to explain and discuss the Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act (IPRA). This initiative aims to provide clarity on the rights of the Indigenous People and help them understand how to protect their rights as part of the community.

Also included in Cabaring's plan is organizing an assembly for all members of the IP communities to expedite the implementation of projects and programs that will provide clear guidance for activities in 2025.

Cabaring also expressed gratitude for the significant support provided by the council, particularly by Vice Mayor Rodriguez, for the major programs for the IP sector in the previous year. However, Cabaring emphasized the need to further enhance these plans, including Gender and Development (GAD) programs, to assist youth, women, and other members of the community, especially concerning early marriage issues and other initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life within the community.
