PDP Laban Slams Sham Impeachment Against VP Sara Duterte as "Dirty Politics"

The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) has expressed its strong condemnation of what it calls the “railroading” of a sham impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte, calling it the “greatest manifestation of dirty politics” in the country. 

The party issued the statement following the House of Representatives' swift and controversial impeachment proceedings against the Vice President, less than halfway through her six-year term. PDP Laban emphasized that Vice President Duterte’s overwhelming electoral mandate, with 32.2 million votes—the highest number ever cast for a candidate in Philippine history—makes this impeachment attempt not only reckless but an insult to the sovereign will of the Filipino people. The party claims the impeachment was deliberately pushed forward by members of the House of Representatives seeking to distract the public from the nation’s worsening crises. The party suggests that, behind the impeachment effort, there are attempts to divert attention from major  issues like rising public dissatisfaction with the state of peace and order, rampant corruption, and the country's growing poverty.“The railroading of this impeachment is a calculated move by desperate political forces who wish to undermine the Vice President’s future ambitions, especially her potential candidacy for higher office in 2028,” said a PDP Laban representative. As the impeachment process  progresses, PDP Laban urges Filipino voters to carefully consider their choices, especially in the upcoming Senate elections, as VP Sara Duterte's fate may rest there. The party emphasized that her support in the Senate will play a crucial role in shaping the country's future. PDP Laban also stressed that this fight is not just for VP Duterte, but for a fair political system that truly represents the people’s interests.
