Mis. Or. Ranks 10th Amongst Provinces With Highest Costs In Flood Control Projects

August 26, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_Amidst the controversy and scrutiny over flood control projects nationwide, Misamis Oriental has been ranked as 10th among 20 provinces with the highest costs of these infrastructure from 2021 to 2024.

With more than 13 billion pesos worth of flood control projects, Mis. Or. bested 10 other provinces on the list.

Misamis Oriental, on record, has 181 flood control projects worth approximately PhP 13,488,248, 391.85. These projects are located at the two congressional districts of the province, the 1st District under former Congressman Christian Unabia and the 2nd District under incumbent Representative Yevgeny Vincente "Bambi" Emano, who was recently appointed as Deputy Speaker in the Lower House.

Bulacan province topped the list of having the most budget for flood control projects worth more that 43 billion pesos.

Gingoog City – Gingoog River revetment/floodwall — multi-package works completed with ₱190.96M (2024 GAA); 559-m floodwall and related works.

Province-wide – Tagoloan River packages (notably 2023) — Sourced list shows several Tagoloan River packages; largest single item is “Construction of Flood Control Structure at Tagoloan River (Package 6), 2023 – ₱282,250,640.70” (completed Feb 7, 2025).
