Mayor Klarex Expresses Dismay On Dept. Heads' Handling Of CdeO's Garbage Situation

October 13, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_ City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy Monday said that he will personally supervise his department managers in handling the city's garbage problem.

Speaking on behalf of Mayor Klarex, Janboy Actub, Uy's spokesman, said that the local chief executive is dismayed by and not satisfied with the interventions being done by both the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office, (CLENRO), and the City Engineer's Office to resolve the garbage crisis gripping the city.

Actub added that the mayor also aired his sentiments towards the garbage collection contractors.

Mr. Actub also disclosed that the mayor has ordered for the opening of an alternate road which will augment the present impassable and very muddy route leading to the landfill area in Barangay Pagalungan. The present road, Actub said, cannot be traversed by garbage collecting trucks due to its slippery and treacherous terrain. However, Actub said that gravelling of the present road is ongoing, thanks to the cooperation and support of quarry operators in the area.
