June 11, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy Wednesday denied that his party was involved in alleged vote buying activities during the midterm elections last May, particularly in the city's 2nd district.

The mayor was referring to the revelations of Gusa Barangay Captain Marlo Tabac's claim that the latter, as district 2 campaign manager, was given money by Uy's camp to buy votes for the "green" team, obviously referring to Uy's political party.

Uy added that he would be lying if they did not give food, relief items and even cash to people in need as this is the characteristic of his family; service to others.

"Wala ma'y politico nga dili gapanghatag panahon sa election pero kung hisgutan nato ang pagpamalit sa boto, kami mga Uy dili kami hakug sa gahum," Mayor Klarex stressed.(There are no politicians who don't give or spend during elections but if we talk about vote buying, the Uy family is not that power-hungry).

" Kanang alegasyon nga gipatangtang namo si Kapitan Tabac isip bise president sa Liga ng mga Barangay aron pulihan sa akong anak nga si Kikang, wala kami'y kalabutan niana," decried the local chief executive. (We don't know about the allegation that we had a hand in the ouster of Kapitan Tabac as vice president of the Liga ng mga Barangay and replace Tabac with my son, Carmen Punong Barangay Kikang.)

" As I said, we are not that power hungry, in fact, the position of Association of Barangay Councils President was offered to us by the previous administration but we declined," revealed Mayor Klarex.

The leadership of the city's Liga ng mga barangay will be vacated by Kapitan Yan Lam "Alam" Lim by June 30 this year when Lim assumes his city council seat which he won in the last polls. Succeeding Lim would be the Executive Vice President, a position Kapitan Tabac held before 64 village chiefs petitioned for his removal last week. Tabac is on his last term as Gusa Barangay Captain.
