Kagay-anon Officially Takes Office as New Philippine Ambassador to Qatar

Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, a Cagayan de Oro native, has officially taken office as the new Philippine Ambassador to Qatar. He arrived in Doha on January 15, 2025, and presented his credentials to Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan on January 26, 2025. 

Ambassador Melicor expressed his dedication to enhancing diplomatic relations between the two nations through mutually beneficial initiatives. His past diplomatic experience includes postings in the  Philippine Consulates and Embassies in Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Germany, Libya, and Poland. Upon his arrival in Doha, he and his spouse were greeted by Philippine Embassy officials and Qatari government representatives, including His Excellency Ambassador Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro, Director of the Department of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before his appointment as Ambassador to Qatar, Melicor served as the Assistant Secretary for Middle East and African Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs. His appointment was confirmed in September 2024.
