June 23, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_During Monday's flagraising ceremonies at the Provincial Capitol grounds, Outgoing Governor Peter "Senor Pedro" M. Unabia disclosed that it is not his nature to defend himself regarding his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN). He said that contrary to his political opponent's claim that Unabia was a "nobody" before he entered the political arena, he was already a successful businessman then.

Governor Unabia added that, despite his looks, as an example, his net worth filed in 2017 was P215 million. He said that he chided his fellow congressmen then that they allegedly "doctored" their declared net worth. In his speech, Unabia allegedly told his fellow legislators then, "kining ako, naglimbong pa gani ko, kamo, grabe na gyud inyong paglimbong" ( I falsified my SALN, you also probably falsified yours).

Unabia compared his 2017 net worth to his political nemesis' declaration which he said was only P28 million also in the year 2017.

"Am I nobody before politics? Mao nang inyong bantayan, ha? (This is what you should be aware of), said Unabia.

Outgoing Governor Unabia said he believes in Xavier University's motto," Veritas Liberabit Vos", meaning the truth shall set you free.
