From Dreams To Reality, The History Of City College Of Cagayan de Oro

June 25, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_The City College Of Cagayan de Oro is not only a school but the fruit of a dream of Mayor Klarex Uy ever since he was then the Punong Barangay of Carmen. From a simple idea to a big aspiration,this institution was established for the Kagay-anon youth who longed for free, inclusive and quality tertiary education.
In 2018, since its inception, the Cagayan de Oro Technical Vocational Institute offered Tesla-certified skills training, from construction to tourism.
But the city leadership realized that the youth wanted to level up to college education.
Because of this, the dream of a City College Of Cagayan de Oro was institutionalized thru City Ordinance 14564-2023 authored by 2nd district councilor Suzette Magtajas Daba.
For now, the City College Of Cagayan de Oro offers the following courses; BTLED or Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, BTVTED or Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education and BACOMM or Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
The CCCDO is a work in progress notwithstanding challenges like additional facilities, hiring of faculty, plans for more courses, for the school to be the center of innovation and excellence by 2033.
Before CCCDO, Kagay-anon youth could only dream of quality college education but Mayor Klarex Uy, believing that education is the key to a brighter future, made CCCDO a remarkable reality.
