DPWH CdeO 1st Engineering District Acts On Canitoan Road Situation

July 29, 2025, Cagayan de Oro City_The Cagayan de Oro 1st Engineering District of the Department of Public Works and Highways has acted on the complaints of residents and motorists plying the Canitoan - Pagatpat road. The driving and riding public has been much inconvenienced by the sorry state of the road in Canitoan, especially the portion leading to Barangay Pagatpat. Complaints, particularly in social media, range from irritation to frustration because of the muddy to almost impassable terrain in the area. Water has accumulated on the road, much to the exasperation of those using this stretch. Initially, the perception was that the contractor for the road concreting project was allegedly to blame for the inconvenience.

However, according to Ms. Rhea Pelaez, spokesperson for the District Engineering Office, an ocular inspection made by their engineers led to the discovery of water coming out of a leakage of a main line of the Cagayan de Oro Water District, COWD.

Pelaez reported that, last week, the problem of the flooded road in Canitoan has been resolved in coordination with the COWD.
