Cong. Suan Turns Over P446M Flood Control Project To Barangay Balulang

October 15,2025, Cagayan de Oro City_In order to provide lasting benefits to residents by protecting homes, supporting economic activity and resting a more secure and sustainable environment for future generations, 1st District Congressman Attorney Lordan Suan initiated a major infrastructure project, showing his commitment to improving the safety and welfare of the people of Cagayan de Oro, specifically in Barangay Balulang, Representative Suan made possible the implementation of a series of six flood control contracts in CdeO worth P446M.

During the turnover ceremony Wednesday at the project site, attended by DPWH 10 officials led by Regional Director Lilibeth N. Aparecio, 1st District Engineer Ana Lee Manzano, Project Engineer Denrichmeyer Bactong, Balulang Punong Barangay Edwin E. Micabani, and village residents, Cong. Suan said that the project ensures long-term durability and effective protection during heavy rainfall and strong river currents, thereby reducing overflow risks and water damage in the surrounding communities. Also present were Punong barangays of neighboring villages in the 1st District.

The project consists of two main sections, 522 meters upstream and 286 meters on the downstream side. Complimented with a 3-meter wide walkway, both sections feature cross-drain structures which will help manage water flow. The flood control project also has metal railings and wheel guards to ensure public safety

and accessibility.

To prevent erosion, the flood control walls are built with stone masonry with concrete facing in both sides.
