CITY HALL, CAPITOL JOIN CELEBRATION OF 76TH ANNIVERSARY OF PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

CAGAYAN de Oro's City Hall joined the city’s Filipino-Chinese community and their guests consisting of top Chinese officials and dignitaries in celebrating the 76th anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China on Wednesday (Oct. 1) in one of the city’s malls.

On hand to join the festivities spearheaded by the Cagayan de Oro Filipino-Chinese Community were City Hall officials and department managers led by City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas—who represented Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy—Oro Trade Investments Promotions Center (ORO-TIPC) chief John Asuncion and City Councilor Gilda ‘Gigi’ Go representing the 21st City Council and Misamis Oriental Gov. Juliette Uy.

The program, held at the Atrium of Limketkai Center, opened with a series of cultural dances and drew in representatives of the Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese community, the Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cagayan de Oro Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among other dignitaries.

Speaking in behalf of Mayor Klarex, Atty. Raagas extended City Hall’s congratulations to Chinese officials and Filipino-Chinese community leaders on the 76th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. ‘The Filipino-Chinese community of Cagayan de Oro is always a vital partner in the city’s growth, enriching our culture, strengthening our economy and sharing in our efforts towards our aspirations,’ Raagas said.

In her message, Governor Uy acknowledged the historical, cultural and economic ties as well as values shared between the Philippines and China. ‘Despite the political turmoil, we hope that cooperation between our countries continue to flourish and we continue to build cultural and economic bridges for our mutual benefit,’ Uy said./Text by SC with CIO photos by Roel Felicitas
