Cagayan de Oro City, January 27, 2025 — The Cagayan de Oro City Hall’s flag raising ceremony on Monday, January 27, marked the official launch of the city’s 2025 Chinese New Year celebrations. The program, co-hosted by several city departments, was highlighted by a vibrant Chinese dragon dance that set the festive tone for the upcoming festivities.
City Administrator Roy Hilario Raagas and Oro-Trade Investments Promotions Center (ORO-TIPC) Department Manager John Asuncion both delivered messages encouraging the public to join in the various events planned to celebrate the Chinese New Year. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of supporting Cagayan de Oro’s Filipino-Chinese community and the rich cultural heritage they bring to the city.
"This celebration not only honors the traditions of our Filipino-Chinese residents but also strengthens the unity and diversity that make our city truly special," Raagas shared during the ceremony.
