In an effort to enhance awareness and protection against cybercrime, Councilor Romeo Calizo, Chairman of the Committee on Public Order and Safety, has launched an information campaign at the barangay level focused on the recently enacted Cybercrime Law. The campaign aims to emphasize the importance of safeguarding the youth from online threats, especially as cybercrime continues to be a growing concern in today’s digital world. The discussion, led by PLTCOL Ali, specifically addressed the alarming issue of online sexual abuse, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance and protective measures for vulnerable groups, particularly minors. Councilor Calizo stressed the seriousness of cybercrime and the critical need for communities to understand the law’s provisions and how to protect themselves online. This initiative is part of a broader effort to equip residents with the tools and knowledge necessary to combat cyber threats and ensure the safety of the city’s youth in an increasingly digital environment.
