November 12,2025, Cagayan de Oro City_In a bid to rid Divisoria Park of street dwellers, Project Team Lunhaw, tasked by the local government unit to renovate, beautify and clean the city's downtown recreational area, is gathering families and individuals who have, for decades, made the park as their sleeping and living quarters.

Mr. Patrick Gabutina, head of Project Lunhaw, said that the Department of Public Works and Highways will no longer allow these families and individuals to remain in Divisoria Park once the area's renovation is finished.

"Kini ang ikaduhang higayon nga sila gipatawag sa syudad diin gipasabot sila nga subli silang ipatawag isip pagpahibalo kanila nga gidili na ang ilang pagpuyo palibot sa Divisoria.

Pag-abot sa ika-upat dakpon na gyud sila,” added Gabutina.

He further said that it is the intention of Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy that these persons will be relocated and will be paid monthly as creek cleaners under the Hapsay Sapa program which Gabutina also heads.

Gabutina stressed that Mayor Klarex' concern is that these families will not remain in their present situation as parking guides and sometimes be vagrants and make the Divisoria park as their living and sleeping areas, otherwise described by many as eyesores.

Also assisting Project Lunhaw in this undertaking is the City Social Welfare Oro Response and Processing Cente(CSWD-ORPC) and Engineer Reny Go, who owns Kathryn's Bakeshoppe located in Divisoria Park. Photos courtesy of Reynan Baylin of CIO.
