Over a thousand farmers in the city affected by the El Niño phenomenon, which caused drought and crop damage in the past year, received P10,000 cash assistance each on Thursday, January 23, 2025, led by Mayor Klarex Uy.

The distribution was organized by the Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (APOO), led by Engr. Paterno Gonzales, department manager.

Engr. Gonzales explained that the P10 million in assistance was a result of Mayor Klarex’s efforts, following the provision from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. through the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families (PAFF). He added that the cash assistance was delayed due to the complicated process, as their office ensured that those farmers who suffered the most damage to their crops were prioritized.

In his message, Mayor Klarex encouraged the farmers to use the financial aid wisely, emphasizing that farmers are close to him and are crucial instruments for the progress of the city.
