Cagayan de Oro City, September 23, 2024_ Former Phividec administrator Jose Gabriel M. La Viña recently held former CdO mayor Oscar Moreno and incumbent Chief Executive Rolando "Klatex" Uy for the presence of a POGO or Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations hub in Barangay Cugman, thus city.

La Viña assailed the two local government unit bosses for allegedly turning a blind eye to the alleged illegal operations of a POGO hub during their incumbencies.

Pompie, as he is known politically, added that such an alleged massive operation could not be attributed to him as this was under his jurisdiction being the administrator of the Phividec Industrial Authority.

LaViña is reportedly being summoned to attend a Senate inquiry regarding the establishment and operation of Philippine Sanjia Steel Corporation as a locator in the industrial estate which covers the towns of Tagoloan and Villanueva in Misamis Oriental. The steel plant allegedly has a private port wherein alleged contraband and illegal drugs were offloaded by Chinese businessmen who are also linked to a pogo hub in the city.

"It was not during my watch that the steel plant and port were constructed and used. It was during the time not former administrator Franklin Quijano," added La Viña.

"Nevertheless, it would also be unfair for me to be involved in POGO operations in Cagayan de Oro City," La Vina said.
