CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Troops from the 75th Infantry Batallion, 401st Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division have recovered seven (7) high-powered firearms from a communist terrorist group (CTG) arms cache at Sitio Lagangan, Brgy Caras-an, Tago, Surigao del Sur on April 19, 2022.

A tip-off from a concerned citizen led to this successful retrieval operations, which yielded seven AK-47 Rifles and 17 pieces of magazines. Maj. Gen. Wilbur C. Mamawag, 4ID Commander, lauded the troops for this unrelenting drive to collect CTG firearms which they have been using to intimidate contractors and other businesses that do not give in to their extortion activities,

including local candidates in the coming elections. As the Commander of Joint Task Force Diamond, my desire is to eliminate the potential spoilers in the coming polls by making sure that the CTG will not be in a position to harass and intimidate people in the countryside as the election draws near. We will continue to hunt them down and collect their firearms faster than they could hide.”
